Jessie Eliza Hafford was fifteen years old when this picture was taken in 1902. She was the daughter of Joseph Williams Hafford and his wife Lucy Eve McClelland; born September 25, 1887 in Columbus; she died November 18, 1971 in Delaware, Ohio (See Hafford Family Group Sheet). She is buried at Sunbury Memorial Park, Sunbury, Delaware County, Ohio. Jessie married Howard Earl Hawley on September 16, 1909 in Columbus. Between 1911 and 1921 they lived in Portland, Multnomah County, Oregon. After their return to Ohio they lived and farmed in Harlem Township, Delaware County. Howard E. Hawley served as a Justice of the Peace for many years. Jessie was also active in the community and served on the Harlem Township School Board.
