Joseph Williams Hafford, was the son of James Harvey Hafford and his wife Florilla Williams, both of whom were born in New York. Joseph Williams was born in Fremont, Sandusky County, Ohio and moved to Columbus while still a young man in 1872. He married Lucy Eve McClelland on November 21, 1876 in Columbus and together they raised a family of eight, three sons and five daughters (See Hafford Family Group Sheet). One son, James Harvey died in infancy. He worked as a messenger for the Pennsylvania Railroad for many years. Joseph died in Columbus on January 8, 1916 and is buried at Green Lawn Cemetery.
