The following were used in the creation of the Crime & Punishment portion of the Ohio ALHN site and are recommended for further reading.  There are undoubtedly additional sources available, and in most cases the local newspapers published at the time should have carried stories about the crimes and criminals.  The Ohio History Connection (was Ohio Historical Society) has nearly all newspapers published in Ohio on microfilm at the Archives/Library, and many are already online at Chronicling America Historic American Newspapers.
