CHARLES M. HILL Charles M. Hill, 84, of Ostrander died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 30, 2003, at Memorial Hospital of Union County. He was a retired farmer and a 23-year associate of Dennison Abex. He was also a former employee of G.W. Way in Delaware for 17 years. He was a veteran of WWII, serving in the Philippines and Northern Solomons as an ambulance driver in the 112th Medical Battalion, and a life member of VFW Post 3320. A graduate of West Mansfield High School, he was born Jan. 2, 1919, in Leesburg Township to the late Pearl E. and Carrie M. Jones Hill. Survivors include his wife, Janice Current Shanks Hill, whom he married Sept. 6, 1947; four sons, C. Terry (Jean) Hill of Jerome, Gary (Wanda) Hill of Marysville, Ron (Margie) Hill of Ostrander and Tony D. (Betty) Hill of Richwood; eight grandchildren, Jennifer (Jason) Yacoub, Kristi (Kevin) Smith, Kevin, Chad, Scott, Betsy, Candy and Tony Hill. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Thursday at the Underwood Funeral Home where the family will receive friends 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday. Burial will be at Mount Herman Cemetery in Dover Township with military honors conducted by the Union County Military Funeral Honor Guard. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.
