POMANTE Vincent James "V.J." Pomante, III, age 22, SPC, United States Army of Geissen, Germany, formerly of Westerville, Oh., died of an improvise explosive devise during a diplomatic mission in Iraq, December 6, 2006. He attended Whittier Elementary, Blendon Middle School and was a 2003 graduate of Westerville South High School, where he was a member of the wrestling team and Westerville Crew Rowing Team. V.J. also participated in the Worthington Field Studies, and was an avid outdoorsman. He loved children and helped coach high school wrestling on base while stationed in Geissen, Germany. Preceded in death by paternal grand- father Vincent James Pomante Sr., maternal grandparents William and Pauline Russelo and uncle Jerry Russelo. Survived by loving parents, Karen (Russelo) and Vincent James Pomante Jr.; sister, Amy Pomante; paternal grand- mother, Melba Pomante of N.C.; aunt, Ann (Bill) Bean of Tex.; uncle, William B. (Kitty) Russelo of N.C.; aunt, Paula (Robert) Entrekin of Coshocton, Oh.; aunt, Joyce Russelo of Westerville; and many cousins. Friends may call at the MORELAND FUNERAL HOME, 55 East Schrock Rd., Westerville, Friday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, December 16, 2006 at the Central College Presbyterian Church, 975 South Sunbury Road, Westerville, Oh. Dr. Richard Ellsworth officiating. Interment Blendon Central Cemetery.
