MESSMER Nicolas Edward Messmer, age 20, of Gahanna, on Sunday, May 8, 2005 in
Sumarra, Iraq. Private First Class, B Company, 1st Battalion, 506 Infantry Reg-
iment (Air Assault). Graduate of Gahanna Lincoln High School Class of 2003. Mem-
ber of St. Matthew Catholic Church. Nick loved people, physical fitness. Nick
gave his life while fighting for the country he loved and while defending human
rights. Preceded in death by grandfather, John F. Messmer; uncle, Stephan A.
Messmer. Survived by parents, Richard E. and Shirley Messmer; brothers, Richard A.,
Joseph M., Dustin M., Zachary J. Messmer; grandparents, Ruth Ann Messmer,
Martha (Clarence) Lacey, Donald Divers; fiance, Mary Murphy; aunts, uncles, cou-
sins and friends. Friends may call 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, May 16, 2005 at St.
Matthew Catholic Church, 807 Havens Corners Road, Gahanna, where Funeral Mass
will be held 10 a.m. Tuesday, May 17, 2005. Father Paul A. Noble, Celebrant.
Interment with full military honors at St. Joseph Cemetery, Lockbourne, OH. In
lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations be made to Columbus Right to
Life Society, 1652 South Champion Avenue, Columbus, OH 43207 in Nick's memory.
