HURST--Bryan Scott Hurst, age 33, of Westerville, Ohio on Thursday, January 6, 2005. Bryan, a true hero, gave his life while serving and protecting the citizens of Columbus. He is survived by his wife and best friend, Marissa, and six-month old daughter, Malia. He will always be remembered as a loving and devoted husband, and a proud and doting father. Bryan is also survived by mother and step-father, Carolyn and Ted Kaczorowski; brother and sister, Greg and Stacey Kaczorowski; mother and father-in-law, Sherry and Phil Marzick; sister-in-law, Abbey Marzick; nephews, Cole Kaczorowski and Colin Meeker; several cousins, aunts, uncles and additional loved ones. Bryan will also be dearly missed by best friends, Donnie Oliverio, Brandon Walton, and many other friends and colleagues. Bryan was born in Clarksburg, WV and raised in Toledo, OH. He was a 1990 graduate of Maumee High School and later attended The University of Toledo. Bryan proudly served in the United States Marine Corps from 1990-1994 as a military police K-9 handler. Bryan graduated from the Columbus Division of Police Academy in 1996, where he proudly served as a patrol officer, and had recently accepted a long-desired position in the Detective Bureau. The family will receive friends and family Sunday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. and Monday 2-4 and 6-8 p.m at SCHOEDINGER WORTHINGTON CHAPEL, 6699 High Street, Worthington, Ohio (1/2 mile south of I-270). FOP service Monday 7 p.m. Funeral service 11 a.m. Tuesday, January 11, 2005 at Grace Brethren Church, 8225 Worthington-Galena Road, Westerville, Ohio. Burial Service will immediately follow at Kingwood Memorial Park, Lewis Center, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial gifts be made in memory of Bryan in honor of his daughter, Malia. Gifts will be received at any branch of 5th Third Bank.
