NOTES:     "While serving a sentence in the Ohio Penitentiary he
           assaulted and killed Sub-guard Wm. H. MOOREHEAD, with
           a bar of iron, on the evening of Dec. 21, 1905.  Mr.
           MOOREHEAD was a veteran of the Civil War.  Stiles was
           one of the most desperate and brutal prisoners ever
           confined in this institution."
