Ostermann Children

This photograph was taken in 1894, probably in November or early December. The children are, left to right, Lillian, age 6; her half-sister, Alice, born March 6, 1894 at Columbus, died December 24, 1894 and buried at Green Lawn Cemetery; and unnamed step-brother. All three were the children of Siegmund Ostermann, who was serving in the army at Fort Hayes, Columbus at the time. Lillian's mother Lena Kammerer Link Ostermann had died a few years before, and Siegmund had remarried to a woman we only knew as "the actress." She had one son, and together they had little Alice, who died on Christmas Eve at the age of nine months. Lilly was the grandmother of the contributer, and mother of Frank J. McLean.
