John W. MILLER, son of Obed MILLER and Elizabeth KENDAL, born 3 Nov 1844 in Mifflin Twp., Franklin County, OH; he married Mary E. EVANS, 1 Jan 1867 at Columbus, Franklin County, OH and died 22 May 1898 in Columbus

John W. Miller served in the Civil War. He enlisted Aug 4, 1862 at the age of 16 and was discharged Aug 14, 1865. He served as a Private in Company H of the 95th O.V.I. He was captured at the Battle of Richmond, was paroled and rejoined his outfit. He drew a disabiltiy pension of $12.00 a month in his later years. When he died, his widow had a Widow's pension of $8.00 per month.
