Columbus Dispatch, May 10, 2004 BAILEY The Bailey family, formerly of Powell, Ohio, mourns the passing of Robert LeAllen (Bob) Bailey, who died May 7, 2004 following a long illness. Born in Pomeroy and raised in Middleport, Bob moved with his parents, Elma and Clarence, to Columbus as a teenager. After graduating from Central High School, he joined the U.S. Navy and was stationed in the Aleutian Islands, where he performed munitions cleanup in the wake of World War II. He then worked for North American Aviation in Columbus and, later, for International Harvester, retiring in the early 1980s after more than thirty years with the company. Prior to marrying Suzanne Robinson of Columbus in 1962, his passion was auto racing, and for years he burned the candle at both ends, building and racing cars and working in pit crews. Bob is remembered for his optimism, wit, and life-long curiosity. After retiring, Bob and Sue relocated to Hattiesburg, Mississippi, where Bob took daily walks, played golf, painted landscapes, cared for his Malteses, and derived great enjoyment from NASCAR, golf, and train computer programs. He is survived by his wife, Sue Bailey of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; his son, Patrick Bailey of Kalispell, Montana; his daughter and son-in-law, Lisa Robinson Bailey and Larry Rosenfeld, of Durham, North Carolina; his cousins, Cecil and Walter James Bennett of Petal, Mississippi; and his animal companions, Mindy, Ruby, and Zelda. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, May 12, 2002 at the Oak Gove Cemetery, 334 S. Sandusky St., in Delaware, Ohio. Funeral arrangements are being handled by the BENNETT BROWN RODMAN FUNERAL HOME.
