Gravestone Photographs

For lack of a better name I have called the tiny graveyard pictured here the "Miller Family Cemetery."  It is located on the south side of Fisher Run, south of Hard Road and west of Linworth Road.  Our grandson, Christopher Gustafson, first told us about the gravestones and asked if we knew anything about them.  As seen in the photo above there is a relatively new split rail fence that surrounds about an acre of land where the graves for Oliver and Rebecca Miller are located.  The foundation for one of the stones is quite visible and there is a footstone with the letters O. M. laying between the two gravestones.  There is a new subdivision being built and we speculate that the fence was installed by the builder.

I have found an Oliver and Rebecca Miller living in Perry Township in the 1850 census, but the names are the only things that fit.  As listed in the 1850 census Oliver was born in Connecticut in about 1805 and Rebecca was born in Canada in about 1807. However, according to the gravestones, Rebecca had died seven years earlier, and Oliver, though still living in 1850 should have been much older than age forty-five (See photos below).

If anyone has additional information about this cemetery and/or Oliver and Rebecca Miller, please write to Leona at .
