The Columbus Dispatch Thursday, September 16, 2004 Moriarty, Marion "Honey" Block , 82, formerly of Columbus, passed away on April 17, 2004 in Woodbridge, Virginia. Born October 21, 1921, the youngest child of Verena (Haberstick) and Leon Block, Mrs. Moriarty, a 1939 graduate of South High School and alumnus of the well-known Stella Becker Dancing School, was a member of the world-famous Radio City Rockettes in New York City from 1941-1956. During the early part of her career as a Rockette, she danced with her sister Isabel; on July 4, 1941 they were the first pair of sisters to dance on the "Great Stage" of Radio City Music Hall. She was also one of six Rockettes in Bob Hope's Christmas variety show entertaining American servicemen participating in the 1948 Berlin Airlift. Married in 1953 to Timothy Moriarty, she left the Rockettes, remaining in New York and raising two sons, Timothy Jr. and Joseph. Returning to the workforce in the 1980's she worked for Dr. Norman Vincent Peale at Marble Collegiate Church and the New York City Board of Elections before moving to Virginia in 1992 to be near her sons. She is predeceased by her parents, her husband, her sister Isabel, and her brother Robert. She is survived by her brother Pierson "Pete" Block of Columbus; her sons; two grandchildren, Danielle and Liam Moriarty; her daughter-in-law, Ramona "Rae" (Joseph) Moriarty; and her "sister" Rockettes - past and present, including two of her best friends, Mrs. Alex (Janice Davis) Himler of Bexley and Mrs. William (Eleanor "Tinky" Dunne) O'Neill of Indiatlantic, FL. Inurnment will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 18th at Green Lawn Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Gerald Koster officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or the American Parkinson Disease Association in her memory. Arrangements by SCHOEDINGER HILLTOP CHAPEL.
