Retired in 1856 as manager of Otis Elevator Co., Akron, Ohio.  Member of
Columbus Lodge No. 30 F&AM, Scottish Rite of Columbus, Tadmor Temple Shrine
and Yusef Kahn Grotto, Akron, Ohio, Akron Kiwanis Club.  Survived by wife,
Kathryn; brother, the Rev. James S. Whitt, Columbus.  Funeral service, Fri-
day 1 p.m.Schoedinger State St. Chapel, where friends may call Thursday 2 to
4 and 7 to 9 p.m.  Dr. L. Claire Warden officiating.  Interment Green Lawn.
