Lenore Gardner, age 92, formerly of 3 Upland Terrace, Mount Vernon died Wednesday June 17, 1998 at the Life Care Center in Punta Gorda, Florida. She was a teacher retiring from the Mount Vernon City Schools. She attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Mount Vernon and the Friendship Methodist Church in Punta Gorda, Florida. She was a member of Eta Sigma Phi; Pi Lamda Theta; and Delta Kapa Gama Sororities and the Knox County Retired Teachers Association. Surviving are a son Thomas Gardner of Tallahassee, Florida, 2 daughters Mary James of Fredericktown and Lynn Grimm of Mount Vernon, 8 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, a brother Robert Carter of New Plymouth, and 3 sisters Alace Kennard of Athens, Mary Rice of New Marshfield and Evelyn Rice of Cuyahoga Falls, she was preceded in death by her husband Arnold Lee Gardner, a brother Stanley Carter and 2 sisters Pauline Moody and Wilma Gabriel. There will be no calling hours.Services will be Monday at 11 a.m. at the First Church of the Nazarene in Mt. Vernon with Rev. Mikel Norris officiating. Burial will be in Flint Cemetery in Worthingon. The Flowers-Snyder Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
