San Margherita is located in the extreme northwestern corner of Franklin Twp., along (and south of) Trabue Road between Hague and McKinley Avenues. Settled by Italian immigrants, it is still an area of neat, well kept middle class homes. From the street you can see, in many yards, the well cared for grape arbors. Certainly some of these vines arrived with the original immigrants. The spiritual center of the community has always been San Margherita Catholic Church located on Hague Avenue. Some of the men who settled in this area from Italy made their livings working at the nearby Marble Cliff Quarry.
